Hanmer Springs popular this Summer.
Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa is experiencing another successful holiday period.
Since Boxing Day, the complex has averaged 2,700 domestic and international visitors a day. Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa General Manager Graeme Abbot says this holiday season had everything going for it.
“It’s certainly been ideal as far the weather is concerned. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather conditions and the town has been humming with visitors to the area. We’re not breaking any records, but we are definitely happy with the number of people visiting Hanmer Springs and the thermal pools and spa.”
Graeme Abbot says with three weeks of school holidays remaining and the forecasts of fine weather for the rest of January, Hanmer Springs is the ideal place to take the family for a low-cost holiday.
“Hanmer Springs is a popular and busy holiday destination because you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a great break away with the family. It really is a great adventure playground,” he says.
“This town has so much to offer people of all ages - biking in the Hanmer forest and surrounds, walks and tramps on Mt Isobel, or pack a family picnic and explore the area without putting up with the Canterbury easterly breeze! For people who like to be pampered, a Girls Day Out is a perfect treat at The Spa at Hanmer Springs.”
Graeme Abbot adds the Family Escape is a great package consisting of a fun two days away in Hanmer Springs without having to break the bank. This package includes accommodation, two days Thermal Pools entry and Waterslide passes for the kids and a family pass for Crazy Putt mini golf.

The Variety Club Bash comes to town with all their fun and games. There will be the annual Soap Box Derby down Conical Hill Rd as well and to top it all off there will be an outdoor concert staged. A great fun day!

The annual Rainbow Rage event is a 106 KM mountain bike tour that starts outside of St Arnaud and finishes in the Hanmer domain. The ride goes through some of the South Island’s awesome sub alpine high country.
