Hanmer Springs News
People holidaying and working at Hanmer Springs will be able to access super-fast broadband for the first time, from May 1. Vodafone has upgraded its mobile phone network there to include 3G mobile broadband.
Vodafone Southern Region General Manager Paul Morrison says: “Vodafone has been working with the local business community to provide access to high speed broadband services in an area that had previously had limited access to fixed broadband.
“Mobile broadband is now affordable and can provide superior reach to smaller and more isolated communities across NZ.
“We hope to be able to work with more communities going forward.
“Vodafone has invested hundreds of millions of dollars nationwide in the development of the 3G and 3G Broadband networks. We’re pleased to be able to extend this investment to Hanmer Springs to bring customers services that will change the way they communicate,” says Morrison.
“Vodafone 3G Broadband offers theoretical speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps. We expect customers to be impressed by the average performance of 800Kbps-1.4Mbps. This is up to 58 times faster than dial up and considerably faster than most entry level conventional broad band services, and you can connect at these speeds at or away from home,” says Morrison.
For easy access to internet, e-mail and office applications direct from their laptops and PC’s customers can choose from the Vodem, Vodafone 3G broadband datacard or Vodafone 3G Broadband router.
Through the Vodafone 3G network Hanmer Springs customers can use their mobile phone to watch Mobile TV, access the Vodafone Music Store and experience video calling.
