Hanmer Springs see's the town's population increase heavily during winter vacations, being one the regions top tourist destinations. Bungy jumping, mountain biking and bush walking are common tourist attractions, and there's an airline service accessible for the screening of the alpine surroundings of the town. The town is created around a favorite hot spring that was found in the late 19th century. The fractured stone bed along the Hanmer fault made the hot springs possible even to today!
